From the windows you can look out onto the open Exmoor moorland, and will frequently see the famous Red Deer and wild Exmoor ponies which roam free there. The deer, indeed, often jump the fence into our own field, and, if you keep still enough, will wander up to the edge of the garden within a few yards of your window. The Exmoor ponies are less active, but a few minutes walk out onto the moors will almost always bring you to within a few feet of them.

FOUR STAR SELF CATERING HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION
IN EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK
There are a picnic table, benches and chairs for you to sit on in the garden with a meal or your evening drink, absorbing the peaceful beauty of the wild Exmoor countryside. A barbecue is available.
The gardens face south and the views across Somerset are stunning.
Inside, the combined living room and kitchen has a picture window onto the superb view.
The kitchen has an electric cooker with a new fan assisted oven and grill, a large microwave, a fridge with freezer compartment, electric kettle and toaster, and all the tools, cutlery and crockery you could need.
Easy chairs, and a solid oak dining table with matching chairs softly padded make this a cosy and comfortable room.
The first bedroom has a double bed, bedside tables with lights, and a hanging cupboard.
The recently re-furbished and modernised bathroom has a powerful shower over a full sized bath. Hot water is constant and plentiful.
From our garden you can walk through our own fields and out onto the common. The open heather-covered moorland of Winsford Hill surrounds us, and the area abounds with places of interest.
On our doorstep is the Caractacus Stone which dates from Roman times; the historic ‘clapper’ bridge at Tarr Steps is just down the hill; and the ‘Wambarrows’ are pre-historic burial mounds a few hundred yards away from us. From them you can see the famous Dunkery Beacon, and - on a good day - across to Dartmoor on one side and into Wales on the other.
Copious footpaths and bridleways make the whole of Exmoor a walkers’ and riders’ paradise, with endless delights to explore.
Fishing, Shooting, Golf and a host of other activities can be found within a short drive.
For the really energetic there are cycle routes mapped out in the area, as well as canoeing on the nearby River Barle.
MANY OF OUR VISITORS RETURN, AND SOME MAKE ANNUAL BOOKINGS, SO WE CAN JUSTLY CLAIM TO OFFER SOMETHING SPECIAL

Our village of Winsford has one Royal Oak pub, and the next village of Withypool has another. (‘Jake’s Bar’ at the Withypool Royal Oak takes some beating, as do the bar snacks at Tarr Farm by Tarr Steps.) All the pubs do good food, and there are one or two fine restaurants around too, notably Karslake House, right here in Winsford. Also in Winsford you will find a lovely tea rooms with garden, and the village shop, which stocks a good range of general provisions and newspapers and is a Post Office.
The town of Dulverton, about 10 minutes drive away, has numerous shops, including a late-opening supermarket, and also NatWest Bank (with an ATM), a Post Office, Doctors and Vets.
